Our experience of taking many designs through the development process including project reviews, performance analysis, manufacturing development, and product validation means that your concept can be put into service quickly and efficiently.

GEAR SYSTEM design
A fully functioning gear system depends not only on gears but also bearings, lubrication, shafts, supporting structure and suitable interfaces, all designed to work together.
Depending on the application, it is also likely to include a motor or encoder, and we are able to help with the selection and integration of various supplementary components as necessary.
We also design linear motion mechanisms requiring typically a rack, ball-screw, or lead-screw and we can also advise on how to integrated these into your system, whether or not any gears are required.
PERFORMANCE analysis
We can calculate many performance aspects for your application. Whether your application needs to last for many years with high reliability, or only for a very short period at the limits of its strength, we are able to optimise the size and shape of the components accordingly.
If positioning accuracy is critical, we also analyse the backlash or 'lost motion' in the system, and then refine the tolerances throughout the design to ensure it works as it should throughout the operating temperature range.
PRODUCTION
With 20 years experience in a manufacturing environment, we are well placed to provide manufacturing drawings for our designs. Each component will be detailed with tolerances appropriate to the manufacturing processes required to ensure low risk and economic production.
We can advise on the various standards that relate to gears, such as tooth profiles, inspection standards and techniques, and liaise with manufacturers as necessary to help deliver your project.
